Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.50%
Credit: © Reuters. – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Staples , Industrials and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.50%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Gruma SAB de CV (MX: GRUMAB ), which rose 3.19% or 7.18 points to trade at 232.45 at the close. Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALFAA ) added 3.05% or 0.710 points to end at 23.990 and Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALPEKA ) was up 2.92% or 0.880 points to 30.990 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Cementos De Chihuahua (MX: GCC ), which lost 1.83% or 2.100 points to trade at 112.480 in late trade. Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX: LALAB ) declined 1.46% or 0.29 points to end at 19.64 and Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ELEKTRA ) shed 1.41% or 11.03 points to 772.81.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 156 to 132 and 11 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.70% or 8.50 to $1230.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.45% or 0.32 to hit $71.66 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.34 to trade at $80.77 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.01% to 18.8564, while EUR/MXN rose 0.15% to 21.8345.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 94.77.
