Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.51%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Materials , Industrials and Consumer Goods & Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.51%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GMEXICOB ), which rose 4.79% or 2.550 points to trade at 55.840 at the close. VOLARIS A (MX: VOLARA ) added 3.69% or 0.38 points to end at 10.68 and Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALSEA ) was up 2.95% or 1.890 points to 65.910 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Arca Continental , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: AC ), which lost 3.14% or 3.74 points to trade at 115.53 in late trade. Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: BIMBOA ) declined 2.41% or 0.900 points to end at 36.450 and Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX: LALAB ) shed 1.87% or 0.40 points to 21.00.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 223 to 104 and 14 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.25% or 3.30 to $1296.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.40% or 0.92 to hit $64.89 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.90% or 1.46 to trade at $75.33 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.67% to 20.0789, while EUR/MXN rose 1.02% to 23.4841.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 94.02.
