Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.67%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms Services , Financial Services and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.67%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste (MX: ASURB ), which rose 4.59% or 16.83 points to trade at 383.50 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX: PENOLES ) added 3.78% or 11.75 points to end at 322.61 and Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (MX: GAPB ) was up 2.89% or 5.66 points to 201.52 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GCARSOA1 ), which lost 3.69% or 2.570 points to trade at 66.990 in late trade. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ELEKTRA ) declined 3.27% or 28.40 points to end at 839.34 and Nemak SAB de CV (MX: NEMAKA ) shed 2.34% or 0.37 points to 15.47.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 175 to 143 and 13 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.79% or 9.50 to $1211.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.56% or 1.08 to hit $70.33 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.83% or 0.66 to trade at $79.72 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.77% to 19.0388, while EUR/MXN fell 0.57% to 22.1398.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 94.79.
