Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.78% – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms Services , Consumer Staples and Consumer Goods & Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.78%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Gentera SAB de CV (MX: GENTERA ), which rose 3.60% or 0.600 points to trade at 17.280 at the close. Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALFAA ) added 2.89% or 0.610 points to end at 21.750 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX: OMAB ) was up 2.74% or 2.760 points to 103.460 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX: PENOLES ), which lost 2.67% or 9.49 points to trade at 346.19 in late trade. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GCARSOA1 ) declined 2.13% or 1.390 points to end at 63.910 and Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALPEKA ) shed 1.82% or 0.540 points to 29.060.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 209 to 86 and 13 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.28% or 3.70 to $1299.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.18% or 0.12 to hit $65.98 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.18% or 0.90 to trade at $75.56 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.55% to 20.7082, while EUR/MXN rose 0.26% to 24.3278.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 93.81.
