Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.93%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms Services , Healthcare and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.93% to hit a new 1-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX: TLVACPO ), which rose 4.50% or 3.25 points to trade at 75.53 at the close. America Movil SAB de CV (MX: AMXL ) added 3.36% or 0.540 points to end at 16.620 and GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX: GMXT ) was up 3.22% or 0.880 points to 28.200 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ELEKTRA ), which lost 2.38% or 12.61 points to trade at 516.23 in late trade. BanRegio Grupo Financiero SAB de CV (MX: RA ) declined 1.96% or 2.07 points to end at 103.36 and Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALSEA ) shed 1.71% or 1.110 points to 63.660.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 165 to 131 and 12 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.38% or 4.90 to $1306.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.54% or 0.36 to hit $67.00 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.82 to trade at $75.92 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.95% to 20.8385, while EUR/MXN fell 0.82% to 24.1415.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.36% at 94.83.
