Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.94%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare , Telecoms Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 0.94%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: MEXCHEM ), which rose 4.57% or 2.240 points to trade at 51.210 at the close. Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX: TLVACPO ) added 3.81% or 1.76 points to end at 47.93 and PINFRA SAB De CV (MX: PINFRA ) was up 3.38% or 6.36 points to 194.60 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX: LALAB ), which lost 2.89% or 0.69 points to trade at 23.18 in late trade. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GMEXICOB ) declined 2.07% or 0.960 points to end at 45.510 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX: GFINBURO ) shed 1.04% or 0.290 points to 27.630.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 222 to 88 and 21 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.74% or 9.75 to $1325.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.52% or 0.28 to hit $53.95 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.48 to trade at $61.06 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.04% to 19.1160, while EUR/MXN fell 0.31% to 21.8800.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 95.290.
