Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.25%
Credit: © Reuters. – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Materials , Consumer Staples and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 1.25% to hit a new 3-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX: CMXCPO ), which rose 3.77% or 0.480 points to trade at 13.200 at the close. Gentera SAB de CV (MX: GENTERA ) added 3.24% or 0.640 points to end at 20.400 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste (MX: ASURB ) was up 2.61% or 8.76 points to 343.83 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ELEKTRA ), which lost 2.01% or 12.78 points to trade at 623.00 in late trade. BanRegio Grupo Financiero SAB de CV (MX: RA ) declined 1.77% or 2.03 points to end at 112.56 and Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALPEKA ) shed 0.80% or 0.250 points to 30.890.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 147 to 130 and 10 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1225.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.22% or 0.83 to hit $68.72 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.75% or 0.55 to trade at $73.61 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.12% to 18.8608, while EUR/MXN fell 0.20% to 22.0345.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 94.38.
