Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.40% – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Materials , Financial Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 1.40% to hit a new 1-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX: CMXCPO ), which rose 2.94% or 0.300 points to trade at 10.500 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (MX: GAPB ) added 2.69% or 4.62 points to end at 176.36 and Gentera SAB de CV (MX: GENTERA ) was up 2.52% or 0.350 points to 14.220 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Becle SA (MX: CUERVO ), which lost 2.20% or 0.550 points to trade at 24.430 in late trade. PINFRA SAB De CV (MX: PINFRA ) declined 1.49% or 2.86 points to end at 189.69 and Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX: LALAB ) shed 1.00% or 0.23 points to 22.70.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 219 to 97 and 12 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.01% or 0.15 to $1319.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.63% or 0.89 to hit $53.67 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.82% or 0.51 to trade at $62.00 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.35% to 19.0375, while EUR/MXN fell 0.61% to 21.7171.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 95.822.
