Mexico shares higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 2.92% – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services , Consumer Goods & Services and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 2.92%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: MEXCHEM ), which rose 9.43% or 4.270 points to trade at 49.560 at the close. Gentera SAB de CV (MX: GENTERA ) added 7.95% or 1.030 points to end at 13.980 and Becle SA (MX: CUERVO ) was up 7.28% or 1.650 points to 24.320 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX: TLVACPO ), which lost 1.38% or 0.79 points to trade at 56.60 in late trade. BanRegio Grupo Financiero SAB de CV (MX: RA ) declined 1.19% or 1.05 points to end at 87.25 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX: OMAB ) shed 0.77% or 0.670 points to 85.860.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 215 to 82 and 10 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.64% or 7.80 to $1227.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.37% or 1.22 to hit $50.34 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.22% or 1.34 to trade at $59.06 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 1.02% to 20.2711, while EUR/MXN fell 0.38% to 23.0443.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 96.743.
