Mexico shares higher at close of trade; IPC up 0.57%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services , Materials and Telecoms Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.57%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX: CMXCPO ), which rose 5.66% or 0.950 points to trade at 17.740 at the close. Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX: FMSAUBD ) added 2.15% or 3.450 points to end at 164.110 and Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: OHLMEX ) was up 1.72% or 0.360 points to 21.310 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Gentera SAB de CV (MX: GENTERA ), which lost 3.96% or 1.260 points to trade at 30.560 in late trade. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GMEXICOB ) declined 3.03% or 1.860 points to end at 59.570 and Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALSEA ) shed 2.75% or 1.480 points to 52.270.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 179 to 138 and 5 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.70% or 20.30 to $1216.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.31% or 0.16 to hit $52.53 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $55.48 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.06% to 21.4961, while EUR/MXN fell 0.05% to 23.0235.

The US Dollar Index was down 1.25% at 100.26.
