Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.51% – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Materials , Industrials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 0.51% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ELEKTRA ), which rose 4.04% or 33.89 points to trade at 871.99 at the close. El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX: LIVEPOLC1 ) added 1.88% or 2.36 points to end at 127.99 and Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: MEGACPO ) was up 1.84% or 1.720 points to 95.000 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GMEXICOB ), which lost 4.59% or 1.870 points to trade at 38.910 in late trade. Cemex SAB de CV (MX: CMXCPO ) declined 3.72% or 0.350 points to end at 9.070 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX: PENOLES ) shed 3.06% or 7.17 points to 227.42.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 98 to 60 and 14 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.01% or 0.10 to $1227.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.41% or 0.77 to hit $53.86 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.48% or 0.94 to trade at $62.54 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.31% to 20.3081, while EUR/MXN rose 0.49% to 23.1600.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 96.400.
