Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.71%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Materials , Industrials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 0.71%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Cementos De Chihuahua (MX: GCC ), which rose 3.22% or 3.400 points to trade at 109.000 at the close. Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX: FMSAUBD ) added 1.85% or 3.19 points to end at 175.80 and Becle SA (MX: CUERVO ) was up 1.56% or 0.350 points to 22.780 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX: PENOLES ), which lost 7.25% or 18.44 points to trade at 235.95 in late trade. GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX: GMXT ) declined 5.93% or 1.440 points to end at 22.840 and Cemex SAB de CV (MX: CMXCPO ) shed 5.49% or 0.545 points to 9.375.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 184 to 140 and 7 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.41% or 5.00 to $1226.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.98% or 1.06 to hit $54.49 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.41% or 0.88 to trade at $63.41 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.64% to 20.2406, while EUR/MXN fell 0.47% to 23.0420.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 96.615.
