Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.19%

Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Materials , Industrials and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 1.19%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ELEKTRA ), which rose 0.53% or 4.22 points to trade at 798.00 at the close. BanRegio Grupo Financiero SAB de CV (MX: RA ) added 0.45% or 0.51 points to end at 114.39 and Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX: FMSAUBD ) was up 0.21% or 0.39 points to 181.85 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GMEXICOB ), which lost 3.50% or 1.960 points to trade at 54.030 in late trade. GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX: GMXT ) declined 3.47% or 1.120 points to end at 31.200 and Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GCARSOA1 ) shed 3.34% or 2.400 points to 69.540.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 198 to 94 and 14 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.51% or 18.10 to $1182.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.15% or 2.11 to hit $64.93 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.30% or 1.67 to trade at $70.79 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 1.52% to 19.1716, while EUR/MXN rose 1.58% to 21.7612.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 96.56.
