Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.28% – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms Services , Financial Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 1.28%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were VOLARIS A (MX: VOLARA ), which rose 2.54% or 0.34 points to trade at 13.74 at the close. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ELEKTRA ) added 1.79% or 13.43 points to end at 763.52 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX: OMAB ) was up 1.49% or 1.740 points to 118.500 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX: TLVACPO ), which lost 3.79% or 2.80 points to trade at 71.10 in late trade. Cemex SAB de CV (MX: CMXCPO ) declined 3.63% or 0.500 points to end at 13.290 and Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GCARSOA1 ) shed 2.84% or 2.100 points to 71.850.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 153 to 148 and 12 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.11% or 1.30 to $1219.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.36% or 0.24 to hit $66.70 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.28 to trade at $72.00 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 1.25% to 18.6992, while EUR/MXN rose 0.54% to 21.5604.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 95.44.
