Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.85% – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financial Services , Consumer Staples and Materials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 1.85% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALPEKA ), which rose 2.34% or 0.630 points to trade at 27.610 at the close. Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX: PENOLES ) added 2.09% or 5.07 points to end at 247.23 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste (MX: ASURB ) was up 1.50% or 4.29 points to 290.95 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Gentera SAB de CV (MX: GENTERA ), which lost 5.41% or 0.890 points to trade at 15.570 in late trade. GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX: GMXT ) declined 5.10% or 1.350 points to end at 25.100 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX: GFNORTEO ) shed 3.99% or 4.010 points to 96.470.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 184 to 104 and 10 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.23% or 14.70 to $1213.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.53% or 0.30 to hit $56.55 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.83% or 0.55 to trade at $66.67 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.86% to 20.2349, while EUR/MXN fell 0.64% to 22.9361.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 96.91.
