Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 1.98% – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms Services , Healthcare and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC lost 1.98% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Cementos De Chihuahua (MX: GCC ), which rose 3.13% or 3.440 points to trade at 113.190 at the close. BanRegio Grupo Financiero SAB de CV (MX: RA ) added 1.84% or 1.73 points to end at 95.90 and Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: MEGACPO ) was up 0.58% or 0.550 points to 96.070 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX: LABB ), which lost 6.76% or 0.895 points to trade at 12.335 in late trade. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALPEKA ) declined 6.21% or 1.790 points to end at 27.020 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: ALFAA ) shed 5.05% or 1.155 points to 21.725.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 155 to 125 and 10 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 1.90 to $1203.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 7.89% or 4.73 to hit $55.20 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 7.13% or 5.00 to trade at $65.12 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.64% to 20.4918, while EUR/MXN rose 1.17% to 23.1192.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 97.00.
