Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 2.16% – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples , Industrials and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC declined 2.16%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX: GFINBURO ), which rose 0.27% or 0.090 points to trade at 33.180 at the close. Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: MEGACPO ) fell 0.01% or 0.010 points to end at 83.600 and Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX: GFREGIOO ) was down 0.15% or 0.18 points to 115.98 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX: WALMEX ), which lost 4.21% or 1.960 points to trade at 44.610 in late trade. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX: GCARSOA1 ) declined 3.83% or 2.710 points to end at 67.990 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX: GFNORTEO ) shed 3.77% or 4.510 points to 115.160.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 290 to 40 and 5 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.72% or 9.60 to $1326.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.41% or 0.26 to hit $63.89 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $67.27 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.07% to 18.5925, while EUR/MXN fell 0.07% to 23.0128.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 89.52.
