Mexico shares lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 2.24% – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms Services , Financial Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 2.24%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX: GMXT ), which rose 2.02% or 0.490 points to trade at 24.800 at the close. Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacifico SAB De CV Class B (MX: GAPB ) added 0.77% or 1.10 points to end at 144.53 and Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (MX: KIMBERA ) was up 0.57% or 0.170 points to 30.180 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX: TLVACPO ), which lost 4.40% or 2.39 points to trade at 51.90 in late trade. Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB (MX: IENOVA ) declined 3.91% or 2.86 points to end at 70.27 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX: PENOLES ) shed 3.91% or 9.45 points to 232.21.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 202 to 62 and 7 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.69% or 8.55 to $1249.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.00% or 2.06 to hit $49.41 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 2.57% or 1.55 to trade at $58.73 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.74% to 20.0878, while EUR/MXN fell 0.40% to 22.7900.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 96.607.
