Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.07%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas , Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.07%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS: ASML ), which rose 2.79% or 4.20 points to trade at 154.48 at the close. Altice NV (AS: ATCA ) added 1.45% or 0.03 points to end at 2.17 and Philips Lighting NV (AS: LIGHT ) was up 1.32% or 0.29 points to 22.31 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ), which lost 1.50% or 1.400 points to trade at 92.240 in late trade. ASR Nederland NV (AS: ASRNL ) declined 1.27% or 0.52 points to end at 40.34 and Akzo Nobel (AS: AKZO ) shed 1.23% or 0.92 points to 73.68.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 56 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.51% to 16.27.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 2.28% or 1.44 to $61.66 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 2.13% or 1.56 to hit $71.61 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.15% or 1.90 to trade at $1227.90 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1424, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8726.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 96.06.
