Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.14%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms , Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.14%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Philips Lighting NV (AS: LIGHT ), which rose 2.59% or 0.59 points to trade at 23.33 at the close. Koninklijke DSM NV (AS: DSMN ) added 2.25% or 1.72 points to end at 78.00 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) was up 1.97% or 0.387 points to 20.055 in late trade.

Biggest losers included WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS: URW ), which lost 1.89% or 2.98 points to trade at 154.66 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS: INGA ) declined 1.15% or 0.126 points to end at 10.804 and Heineken (AS: HEIN ) shed 0.87% or 0.70 points to 79.72.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 57 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.26% to 16.87.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 3.06% or 1.54 to $51.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 2.15% or 1.27 to hit $60.36 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 0.80 to trade at $1230.60 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1373, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.8903.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 96.805.
