Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.17%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology , Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.17%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS: ASML ), which rose 2.71% or 4.80 points to trade at 182.20 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) added 1.66% or 0.470 points to end at 28.805 and Koninklijke DSM NV (AS: DSMN ) was up 1.31% or 1.16 points to 89.56 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Koninklijke KPN NV (AS: KPN ), which lost 1.44% or 0.035 points to trade at 2.397 in late trade. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS: VOPA ) declined 1.36% or 0.57 points to end at 41.25 and Relx NV (AS: RELN ) shed 1.01% or 0.190 points to 18.670.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 64 to 62 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.83% to 11.50.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.38% or 0.25 to $66.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.63% or 0.48 to hit $76.36 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 2.80 to trade at $1302.20 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1786, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8808.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 93.58.
