Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.19%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology , Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.19%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS: ASML ), which rose 2.94% or 5.10 points to trade at 178.30 at the close. Koninklijke DSM NV (AS: DSMN ) added 1.44% or 1.26 points to end at 88.36 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) was up 1.34% or 0.380 points to 28.680 in late trade.

Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS: INGA ), which lost 2.09% or 0.270 points to trade at 12.644 in late trade. Aegon NV (AS: AEGN ) declined 1.61% or 0.088 points to end at 5.368 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS: ABNd ) shed 1.57% or 0.36 points to 22.60.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 62 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.73% to 12.39.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.36% or 0.23 to $64.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.43% or 0.32 to hit $74.97 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.50% or 6.50 to trade at $1303.80 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1717, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.8754.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 93.86.
