Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.49%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms , Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.49%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke KPN NV (AS: KPN ), which rose 4.38% or 0.109 points to trade at 2.599 at the close. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS: VOPA ) added 2.15% or 0.86 points to end at 40.92 and Unibail Rodamco SE (AS: UNBP ) was up 1.84% or 3.55 points to 196.80 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS: LIGHT ), which lost 12.20% or 3.67 points to trade at 26.38 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ) declined 1.60% or 1.220 points to end at 74.880 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS: RDSa ) shed 0.53% or 0.155 points to 28.940.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 63 to 50 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.29% to 12.14.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $68.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.61% or 0.45 to hit $74.45 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.33% or 4.40 to trade at $1318.40 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.37% to 1.2116, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8700.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 91.29.
