Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.52%
Credit: © Reuters. – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Services , Consumer Goods and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.52% to hit a new 1-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS: ASML ), which rose 4.33% or 6.18 points to trade at 148.80 at the close. Altice NV (AS: ATCA ) added 2.89% or 0.05 points to end at 1.78 and Randstad NV (AS: RAND ) was up 2.15% or 0.90 points to 42.75 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ), which lost 1.67% or 1.520 points to trade at 89.240 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS: INGA ) declined 1.07% or 0.112 points to end at 10.334 and Relx PLC (AS: REL ) shed 0.92% or 0.175 points to 18.865.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 45 and 18 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.83% to 15.31.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.10% or 0.58 to $53.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.13% or 0.08 to hit $61.22 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.35% or 4.45 to trade at $1279.55 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.1304, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.8677.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 96.282.
