Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.55%
Credit: © Reuters. – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.55% to hit a new 5-year high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ), which rose 5.36% or 1.355 points to trade at 26.655 at the close. Randstad Holding NV (AS: RAND ) added 3.92% or 2.00 points to end at 53.00 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS: ABNd ) was up 2.80% or 0.63 points to 23.16 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Wolters Kluwer (AS: WLSNc ), which lost 1.15% or 0.60 points to trade at 51.42 in late trade. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS: KPN ) declined 0.97% or 0.024 points to end at 2.456 and ASML Holding NV (AS: ASML ) shed 0.69% or 1.30 points to 186.10.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 76 to 53 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.51% to 11.62.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.50% or 1.02 to $68.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.07% or 0.78 to hit $73.84 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1225.40 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1681, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.8890.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 94.41.
