Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.65% – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials , Software & Computer Services and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.65%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ), which rose 2.63% or 2.300 points to trade at 89.840 at the close. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS: PHG ) added 1.89% or 0.57 points to end at 30.77 and Heineken (AS: HEIN ) was up 1.86% or 1.40 points to 76.48 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS: ATCA ), which lost 1.62% or 0.03 points to trade at 1.73 in late trade. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS: URW ) declined 1.03% or 1.48 points to end at 142.40 and Philips Lighting NV (AS: LIGHT ) shed 0.78% or 0.16 points to 20.25.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 78 to 47 and 18 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.91% to 17.00.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 2.63% or 1.33 to $51.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.09% or 1.23 to hit $60.22 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.27% or 3.55 to trade at $1287.75 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.1389, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8945.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.65% at 95.822.
