Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.78%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.78% to hit a new 3-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep NV (AS: INGA ), which rose 6.12% or 0.638 points to trade at 11.058 at the close. Altice NV (AS: ATCA ) added 4.57% or 0.09 points to end at 1.99 and ASML Holding NV (AS: ASML ) was up 3.40% or 5.40 points to 164.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Koninklijke KPN NV (AS: KPN ), which lost 1.71% or 0.047 points to trade at 2.706 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ) declined 1.62% or 1.440 points to end at 87.720 and Signify NV (AS: LIGHT ) shed 1.22% or 0.28 points to 22.74.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 70 to 59 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.98% to 12.95.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.71% or 0.38 to $54.04 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.10% or 0.68 to hit $62.66 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.22% or 2.95 to trade at $1316.25 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1377, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.8784.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 96.023.
