Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 1.06%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms , Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.06%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS: ASML ), which rose 3.55% or 5.06 points to trade at 147.52 at the close. Randstad NV (AS: RAND ) added 3.12% or 1.29 points to end at 42.61 and Philips Lighting NV (AS: LIGHT ) was up 2.87% or 0.59 points to 21.14 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ), which lost 4.40% or 3.960 points to trade at 86.040 in late trade. Altice NV (AS: ATCA ) declined 2.66% or 0.06 points to end at 2.05 and ASR Nederland NV (AS: ASRNL ) shed 1.58% or 0.62 points to 38.66.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 60 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.07% to 19.46 a new 6-month high.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.69% or 0.46 to $67.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.50% or 0.38 to hit $76.55 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 4.20 to trade at $1232.00 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1372, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.8870.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 96.41.
