Netherlands shares higher at close of trade; AEX up 1.15%
Credit: © Reuters. – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials , Technology Hardware & Equipment and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.15%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS: VOPA ), which rose 3.68% or 1.43 points to trade at 40.28 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) added 3.40% or 0.632 points to end at 19.202 and Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ) was up 2.64% or 2.340 points to 90.880 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS: LIGHT ), which lost 3.51% or 0.74 points to trade at 20.32 in late trade. ASR Nederland NV (AS: ASRNL ) declined 0.12% or 0.04 points to end at 34.30 and Aegon NV (AS: AEGN ) 0.00% or 0.000 points to 4.357.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 101 to 26 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 9.69% to 19.61.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.02% or 0.52 to $51.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.37% or 0.22 to hit $60.19 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1249.10 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1316, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.9035.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 97.422.
