Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 0.01%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Goods , Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.01%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel NV (AS: AKZO ), which rose 1.84% or 1.30 points to trade at 71.84 at the close. Relx PLC (AS: REL ) added 1.16% or 0.215 points to end at 18.695 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS: KPN ) was up 1.13% or 0.028 points to 2.498 in late trade.

Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS: INGA ), which lost 1.77% or 0.182 points to trade at 10.112 in late trade. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS: VOPA ) declined 1.65% or 0.72 points to end at 42.94 and Randstad NV (AS: RAND ) shed 1.28% or 0.53 points to 40.98.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 65 to 62 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.52% to 15.08 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.86% or 0.45 to $51.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.49% or 0.30 to hit $61.02 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.23% or 2.95 to trade at $1290.85 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1384, while EUR/GBP fell 0.59% to 0.8793.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 95.790.
