Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 0.05%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms , Technology and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.05%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ), which rose 2.70% or 2.340 points to trade at 88.900 at the close. Relx PLC (AS: REL ) added 2.08% or 0.380 points to end at 18.650 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS: KPN ) was up 1.79% or 0.042 points to 2.383 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS: ATCA ), which lost 12.53% or 0.22 points to trade at 1.56 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS: RDSa ) declined 3.35% or 0.900 points to end at 26.000 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) shed 3.10% or 0.638 points to 19.942.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 75 to 52 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.07% to 17.45.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 6.55% or 3.58 to $51.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 5.70% or 3.57 to hit $59.03 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.36% or 4.40 to trade at $1223.60 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.61% to 1.1334, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8843.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 96.820.
