Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 0.24%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas , Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.24%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ), which rose 2.25% or 0.620 points to trade at 28.135 at the close. Akzo Nobel (AS: AKZO ) added 1.01% or 0.80 points to end at 79.90 and Altice NV (AS: ATCA ) was up 0.91% or 0.03 points to 2.88 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Wolters Kluwer (AS: WLSNc ), which lost 2.48% or 1.28 points to trade at 50.28 in late trade. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS: URW ) declined 1.66% or 3.15 points to end at 186.70 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS: RDSa ) shed 1.47% or 0.430 points to 28.910.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 79 to 48 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.59% to 11.66.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.28% or 0.88 to $67.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 2.06% or 1.53 to hit $72.68 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.54% or 6.60 to trade at $1217.10 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.1662, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8894.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 94.47.
