Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 0.42%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Oil & Gas and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS: GTO ), which rose 3.06% or 1.40 points to trade at 47.00 at the close. Relx NV (AS: RELN ) added 1.14% or 0.220 points to end at 19.445 and Koninklijke DSM NV (AS: DSMN ) was up 0.95% or 0.76 points to 80.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS: ATCA ), which lost 7.83% or 0.69 points to trade at 8.14 in late trade. SBM Offshore NV (AS: SBMO ) declined 1.49% or 0.22 points to end at 14.59 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS: KPN ) shed 1.46% or 0.043 points to 2.898.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 72 to 49 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.35% to 10.58.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.65% or 0.37 to $56.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.25% or 0.79 to hit $62.55 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.60% or 7.40 to trade at $1249.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1766, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8808.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.86.
