Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 0.61% – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.61%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Akzo Nobel NV (AS: AKZO ), which rose 1.22% or 0.90 points to trade at 74.58 at the close. Koninklijke Philips NV (AS: PHG ) added 1.19% or 0.37 points to end at 31.59 and Relx PLC (AS: REL ) was up 0.79% or 0.150 points to 19.110 in late trade.

Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ), which lost 4.55% or 0.904 points to trade at 18.944 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS: RDSa ) declined 2.04% or 0.550 points to end at 26.360 and ASML Holding NV (AS: ASML ) shed 1.52% or 2.18 points to 141.36.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 85 to 37 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.37% to 15.69.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 2.70% or 1.46 to $52.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 2.73% or 1.71 to hit $61.03 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.00% or 0.05 to trade at $1282.65 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1365, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.8766.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 95.928.
