Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 0.65%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrials , Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.65%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Relx PLC (AS: REL ), which rose 0.42% or 0.075 points to trade at 17.900 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS: RDSa ) added 0.34% or 0.095 points to end at 27.785 and Gemalto (AS: GTO ) was up 0.32% or 0.16 points to 50.66 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ), which lost 4.36% or 4.100 points to trade at 90.000 in late trade. Altice NV (AS: ATCA ) declined 4.23% or 0.09 points to end at 2.13 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) shed 2.29% or 0.510 points to 21.750.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 100 to 29 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 11.51% to 15.87.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.11% or 0.67 to $60.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.28% or 0.90 to hit $71.08 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.26% or 3.10 to trade at $1203.30 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.79% to 1.1246, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.8751.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.62% at 97.33.
