Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 1.58%
Credit: © Reuters. – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Healthcare and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.58% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS: AD ), which rose 1.53% or 0.306 points to trade at 20.260 at the close. Unilever NV DRC (AS: UNc ) added 0.40% or 0.19 points to end at 47.57 and Gemalto (AS: GTO ) was down 0.36% or 0.18 points to 50.26 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS: ATCA ), which lost 6.22% or 0.14 points to trade at 2.14 in late trade. Koninklijke DSM NV (AS: DSMN ) declined 4.52% or 3.54 points to end at 74.70 and Galapagos NV (AS: GLPG ) shed 4.39% or 4.160 points to 90.500.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 115 to 21 and 5 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.61% to 16.36.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 4.47% or 3.09 to $66.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 4.52% or 3.61 to hit $76.22 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.10% or 13.40 to trade at $1234.60 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1480, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8833.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 95.62.
