Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 1.66%
Credit: © Reuters. – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology , Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.66% to hit a new 6-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS: ATCA ), which rose 4.64% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.43 at the close. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS: KPN ) added 2.79% or 0.063 points to end at 2.319 and ING Groep NV (AS: INGA ) was up 1.09% or 0.118 points to 10.964 in late trade.

Biggest losers included ASML Holding NV (AS: ASML ), which lost 5.51% or 8.76 points to trade at 150.36 in late trade. Koninklijke DSM NV (AS: DSMN ) declined 5.20% or 4.40 points to end at 80.26 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ) shed 4.77% or 1.240 points to 24.760.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 100 to 23 and 14 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.61% to 15.84 a new 1-month high.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 2.09% or 1.57 to $73.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.79% or 1.52 to hit $83.48 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.10% or 1.20 to trade at $1192.70 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was up 0.45% to 1.1542, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8737.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 95.06.
