Nigeria shares lower at close of trade; NSE 30 down 0.04%

Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking , Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.04%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS: UNILEVE ), which rose 4.91% or 2.45 points to trade at 52.35 at the close. Nestle Nig (LAGOS: NESTLE ) added 2.81% or 43.00 points to end at 1573.30 and Nig Brew (LAGOS: NB ) was up 2.30% or 2.80 points to 124.80 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS: DIAMONB ), which lost 9.39% or 0.170 points to trade at 1.640 in late trade. Skye Bank (LAGOS: SKYEBAN ) declined 5.56% or 0.050 points to end at 0.850 and Wapco (LAGOS: WAPCO ) shed 4.99% or 2.05 points to 39.05.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 62 to 25 and 11 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.18% or 0.13 to $70.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.64% or 0.50 to hit $78.73 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 2.11% or 27.80 to trade at $1290.40 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was down 0.53% to 429.050, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 360.500.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 93.03.
