Nigeria shares lower at close of trade; NSE 30 down 0.36%

Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Insurance , Banking and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.36% to hit a new 52-week low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wemabank (LAGOS: WEMABAN ), which rose 6.35% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.670 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS: PZ ) added 6.05% or 0.85 points to end at 14.90 and Total Nig (LAGOS: TOTAL ) was up 5.41% or 10.00 points to 195.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Uacn Prop (LAGOS: UACN ), which lost 9.64% or 1.35 points to trade at 12.70 in late trade. Fidelitybk (LAGOS: FIDELIT ) declined 7.78% or 0.140 points to end at 1.660 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS: NESTLE ) shed 3.92% or 61.10 points to 1498.90.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 63 to 27 and 10 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.18% or 0.12 to $67.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.15% or 0.11 to hit $72.50 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.15% or 1.80 to trade at $1200.70 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was up 0.52% to 413.470, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 361.000.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 96.62.
