Nigeria shares lower at close of trade; NSE 30 down 0.51%

Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas , Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.51%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nig Brew (LAGOS: NB ), which rose 2.08% or 2.10 points to trade at 102.00 at the close. Uacn Prop (LAGOS: UACN ) added 1.99% or 0.25 points to end at 12.80 and Total Nig (LAGOS: TOTAL ) was up 1.54% or 3.00 points to 198.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS: GUINNES ), which lost 4.15% or 3.90 points to trade at 90.10 in late trade. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS: GUARANT ) declined 2.13% or 0.85 points to end at 39.00 and Wapco (LAGOS: WAPCO ) shed 1.97% or 0.60 points to 28.95.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 45 to 36 and 25 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.33% or 0.23 to $69.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.06% or 0.78 to hit $74.53 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.11% or 1.40 to trade at $1219.10 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was up 0.79% to 419.220, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 360.500.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 95.02.
