Nigeria shares lower at close of trade; NSE 30 down 1.29%

Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking , Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 1.29% to hit a new 3-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Total Nig (LAGOS: TOTAL ), which rose 5.00% or 10.60 points to trade at 222.60 at the close. Uacn Prop (LAGOS: UACN ) added 3.79% or 0.55 points to end at 15.00 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS: NESTLE ) was up 1.25% or 20.00 points to 1620.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Fidelitybk (LAGOS: FIDELIT ), which lost 7.77% or 0.160 points to trade at 1.900 in late trade. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS: DANGFLOUR ) declined 6.81% or 0.65 points to end at 8.90 and Wapco (LAGOS: WAPCO ) shed 4.94% or 2.00 points to 38.50.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 23 and 12 ended unchanged on the Lagos.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 4.38% or 3.10 to $67.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 3.45% or 2.72 to hit $76.07 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.06% or 0.80 to trade at $1303.60 a troy ounce.

EUR/NGN was down 0.09% to 421.540, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 360.500.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 94.11.
