Peru shares lower at close of trade; S&P Lima General down 1.01%

Investing.com – Peru equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking & Financials , Electricity and Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General fell 1.01% to hit a new 1-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Aceros Arequip (LM: AREi ), which rose 1.39% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.730 at the close. Cerro Verde (LM: CVE ) added 0.35% or 0.100 points to end at 29.000 and Buenaventura (LM: BVN ) was up 0.33% or 0.050 points to 15.250 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Milpo (LM: MIL ), which lost 5.90% or 0.320 points to trade at 5.100 in late trade. PPX Mining Corp (LM: PPX ) unchanged 2.94% or 0.00 points to end at 0.07 and Credicorp (LM: BAP ) shed 2.91% or 6.51 points to 217.49.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 23 to 3 and 16 ended unchanged on the Lima Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 2.89% or 1.89 to $63.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 2.09% or 1.43 to hit $67.15 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.30% or 4.00 to trade at $1341.30 a troy ounce.

USD/PEN was up 0.37% to 3.2305, while EUR/PEN fell 0.09% to 4.0022.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 89.44.
