Portugal shares higher at close of trade; PSI 20 up 0.88%

Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods , Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Altri SGPS (LS: ALSS ), which rose 3.99% or 0.2200 points to trade at 5.7300 at the close. EDP (LS: EDP ) added 1.29% or 0.0380 points to end at 2.9890 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS: BCP ) was up 1.29% or 0.0030 points to 0.2364 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sonae Capital (LS: SONAC ), which lost 2.56% or 0.0230 points to trade at 0.8740 in late trade. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS: CTT ) declined 1.57% or 0.0500 points to end at 3.1400 and Corticeira Amorim (LS: CORA ) shed 1.20% or 0.110 points to 9.050.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 14 and 1 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was up 2.33% or 1.31 to $57.57 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 3.13% or 1.46 to hit $48.06 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 2.80 to trade at $1256.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.57% to 1.1427, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.9030.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 96.102.
