Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 0.64% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 4.07% or 0.0070 points to trade at 0.1790 at the close. Semapa (LS:SEM) added 2.25% or 0.2650 points to end at 12.0250 and EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) was up 1.41% or 0.1000 points to 7.2000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which lost 0.28% or 0.0050 points to trade at 1.7950 in late trade. Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) declined 0.16% or 0.0010 points to end at 0.6290 and Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) gained 0.02% or 0.0010 points to 6.0000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 33 to 14 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for October delivery was up 4.38% or 1.93 to $45.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 4.34% or 1.81 to hit $43.52 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.02% or 0.25 to trade at $1352.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.21% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8607.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 95.72.
