Portugal shares lower at close of trade; PSI 20 down 0.29%

Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Utilities and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 0.29%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Semapa (LS: SEM ), which rose 2.34% or 0.3200 points to trade at 13.9800 at the close. Altri SGPS (LS: ALSS ) added 1.44% or 0.0900 points to end at 6.3500 and Corticeira Amorim (LS: CORA ) was up 0.87% or 0.080 points to 9.300 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Mota Engil (LS: MOTA ), which lost 2.27% or 0.0400 points to trade at 1.7240 in late trade. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS: CTT ) declined 1.35% or 0.0420 points to end at 3.0800 and J. Martins SGPS (LS: JMT ) shed 1.35% or 0.1450 points to 10.6050.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 20 to 12 and 3 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was up 2.18% or 1.25 to $58.58 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.37% or 1.15 to hit $49.67 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.19% or 2.45 to trade at $1287.45 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1453, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.9005.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 95.428.
