Portugal shares lower at close of trade; PSI 20 down 0.51%

Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Technology and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 0.51%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Mota Engil (LS: MOTA ), which rose 11.17% or 0.1820 points to trade at 1.8120 at the close. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS: CTT ) added 1.31% or 0.0440 points to end at 3.4000 and Sonae SGPS SA (LS: YSO ) was up 0.54% or 0.0045 points to 0.8450 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Altri SGPS (LS: ALSS ), which lost 2.68% or 0.1800 points to trade at 6.5300 in late trade. The Navigator Company SA (LS: NVGR ) declined 2.59% or 0.0960 points to end at 3.6040 and Semapa (LS: SEM ) shed 2.53% or 0.3600 points to 13.8600.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 17 to 13 and 8 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was down 1.67% or 1.01 to $59.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.94% or 1.00 to hit $50.63 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.78% or 9.60 to trade at $1219.10 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1290, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8863.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 97.325.
