Russia shares higher at close of trade; MOEX Russia up 0.02%

Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining , Power and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 0.02% to hit a new all time high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NLMK ao (MCX: NLMK ), which rose 3.41% or 5.18 points to trade at 157.20 at the close. X5 Retail Group NV (MCX: FIVEDR ) added 1.92% or 33.0 points to end at 1748.5 and Severstal - ao (MCX: CHMF ) was up 1.63% or 16.30 points to 1014.80 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Aeroflot (MCX: AFLT ), which lost 2.50% or 2.70 points to trade at 105.22 in late trade. PhosAgro ao (MCX: PHOR ) declined 2.09% or 54.0 points to end at 2529.0 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX: TATN_p ) shed 2.02% or 11.50 points to 557.50.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 113 to 102 and 17 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.24% to 21.460.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.18% or 2.45 to $1322.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.62% or 0.87 to hit $54.66 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.97% or 1.20 to trade at $62.04 a barrel.

USD/RUB was up 0.15% to 65.5096, while EUR/RUB rose 0.42% to 75.2027.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 95.180.
