Russia shares higher at close of trade; MOEX Russia up 1.37%

Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining , Oil & Gas and Power sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia added 1.37%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MOEX Russia were NLMK ao (MCX: NLMK ), which rose 3.54% or 5.09 points to trade at 148.79 at the close. MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX: GMKN ) added 3.17% or 353.0 points to end at 11500.0 and Severstal - ao (MCX: CHMF ) was up 3.08% or 28.10 points to 941.60 in late trade.

Biggest losers included AFK Sistema (MCX: AFKS ), which lost 2.61% or 0.330 points to trade at 12.320 in late trade. MVideo (MCX: MVID ) declined 1.16% or 5.20 points to end at 441.30 and Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX: SFIN ) shed 0.91% or 7.0 points to 759.0.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 142 to 74 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was up 0.43% to 23.130.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.32% or 4.20 to $1330.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.51% or 0.30 to hit $58.99 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.27% or 0.17 to trade at $62.42 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 0.07% to 57.7885, while EUR/RUB rose 0.48% to 71.4314.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.52% at 89.54.
