Russia shares higher at close of trade; MICEX up 0.41%

Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms , Mining and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.41%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX: ALRS ), which rose 4.38% or 3.880 points to trade at 92.480 at the close. Surgut-pref (MCX: SNGS_p ) added 3.20% or 0.920 points to end at 29.700 and Inter rao ees (MCX: IRAO ) was up 2.63% or 0.0845 points to 3.2985 in late trade.

Biggest losers included ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX: BANE_p ), which lost 6.70% or 120.0 points to trade at 1670.0 in late trade. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX: RUAL ) declined 3.38% or 0.810 points to end at 23.190 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX: POLY ) shed 2.92% or 20.50 points to 682.00.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 105 and 29 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 4.33% to 26.750.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.01% or 12.75 to $1255.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.04% or 0.52 to hit $50.35 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.20% or 0.62 to trade at $52.48 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 0.44% to 62.1472, while EUR/RUB fell 0.77% to 69.352.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 96.56.
