Russia shares lower at close of trade; MICEX down 1.03%

Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Power , Mining and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 1.03%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Lenta Ltd (MCX: LNTADR ), which rose 2.55% or 9 points to trade at 362 at the close. Magnit (MCX: MGNT ) added 1.71% or 159.0 points to end at 9445.0 and SG mechel (MCX: MTLR ) was up 0.69% or 1.05 points to 153.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included United Company Rusal Plc (MCX: RUAL ), which lost 4.62% or 1.850 points to trade at 38.180 in late trade. Rosseti ao (MCX: RSTI ) declined 4.26% or 0.0430 points to end at 0.9670 and GidroOGK-011D (MCX: HYDR ) shed 2.46% or 0.0210 points to 0.8310.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 155 to 72 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.

The Russian VIX , which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.41% to 16.100.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.47% or 5.99 to $1288.99 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.27% or 0.66 to hit $51.38 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.58% or 0.92 to trade at $57.23 a barrel.

USD/RUB was down 0.10% to 57.3825, while EUR/RUB rose 0.28% to 67.9220.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 93.08.
